What’s Trending: TV Special

Welcome back, Wildcats! With 2022 officially behind us (well duh, it’s February), all our favorite streaming services have been blessing us with brand-new shows! I know I usually dish out the top shows, movies, and music, but I’m focusing on the shows this time because there are so many that have taken the world by storm over the past month or so.

Let’s kick things off with one that's perhaps the most saturated.

Everything, from new trends to mobile game ads, has been influenced by none other than Netflix's Wednesday. For those of you who have no clue what I’m talking about, Wednesday is a new Netflix show starring Jenna Ortega as the titular Wednesday Addams. That’s “Addams” as in the Addams Family, which I personally am quite glad has been making a comeback in recent years. Wednesday starts attending a new boarding school and ends up solving a mystery involving a murderous killer. Seriously, this show is everywhere. It’s totally worth a watch, so give it a shot!

Another super popular show right now is the fantastic (and long) The Last Of Us. Based on the video game series of the same name, this drama has been known to be a tear-jerker. Starring some amazing people such as Pedro Pascal, Nick Offerman, and Bella Ramsey (all you Game of Thrones fans out there might recognize her), it’s absolutely worth watching. Also, of course, if you’re a fan of the games, how could you not give it a try? (Especially with Prince Oberyn AND Lyanna Mormont in the show’s cast!) You can find the full episodes on HBO Max.

Another popular show right now on HBO Max is The White Lotus. The series is about a hotel resort, where although things seem like a perfect paradise vacation, something much darker lurks just beneath the surface. Another all-star cast, including Jennifer Coolidge, Aubrey Plaza, and Jake Lacy (who fans of The Office might recognize as Pete or New Jim on the show’s final season) make up the cast, so you’re in for a real treat!

And that’s a wrap. Next time, we’ll be back to the usual routine of shows, movies, and music. Hopefully, you all will get some fun binges out of these suggestions in the meantime! I’ll see you in a couple of weeks, and as always, Go Wildcats!
