Girls Swim Spotlight: Celeste Hollis

Junior Celeste Hollis is a standout on the Riley Girls Swim Team, especially in the 100 fly.

Hollis is the 2022 sectional champion in the 100 butterfly and swam at a state cut time which allowed her to go to Indianapolis to compete in the Girls Swimming State Championship held at IUPUI’s natatorium.

When asked what the best part about competing at state was, Hollis said, “Definitely just being there! I’ve never been to state before in high school or club; it was a fun experience and very noteworthy for me.”

Celeste competed very well and enjoyed her time participating. She was cheered on by assistant Coach Mckenna Mast and her teammates, Allie Park, Emma Hille, and Emma Richards—who accompanied her to the meet. Park said that she very much enjoyed being able to be there for Hollis in that way and just also having the experience of being at the meet.

Hollis definitely has a bright senior season ahead of her as she hopes to break some of the school records, specifically in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly. She feels that the most rewarding part of her past season was dropping times in her events, especially since with how long she has been swimming, dropping time is a rare occurrence.

Thank you, Celeste, for representing Riley so well. Congratulations to all of the Riley Girls Swim team on an excellent season!

And as always, Go Cats!
