Four Strategies to Avoid End of Year Stress

With only a few weeks left of the 2022 - 2023 school year, it is a stressful time for many. As we try to wrap up all of our assignments, prepare for finals, and make plans for summer break, there’s a lot we have to handle in a short amount of time. However, with some planning and certain techniques, it is possible to avoid stress and finish the school year on a positive note.

Here, I will show four key strategies to avoid stress at the end of the school year.

The first strategy I use is to stay organized.

As the end of the school year approaches, there will likely be a lot of deadlines and assignments to keep track of. To avoid feeling overwhelmed, it is important to stay on top of your schedule and keep a list of everything you need to complete. Make sure to include deadlines and reminders so you do not forget.

The second strategy is to prioritize your tasks.

Not all assignments are as important as others, and instead of feeling overwhelmed, you should look at what you need to do first. Only when you’re done with all the big assignments should you look at the others that aren’t as urgent.

The third strategy is possibly the most important one, which is to find a way to balance entertainment and work.

You’d probably think that this means to steamroll through all your work, so you can get back to doing the things that you enjoy. However, this is not the case, as working nonstop will only lead to more stress. It is important to make time for breaks from any work and to do some of your hobbies, exercising, or spending time with friends and family. These activities can help you reduce stress, but once again, too much of this leisure time can make you slack off on assignments. You have to find a good balance between work and entertainment to have the least amount of stress and be the most productive.

The fourth and final strategy is to ask for help when you need it.

If you are struggling with anything, and cannot do it on your own, you should ask for help. You can always get help from teachers and fellow students or even go to the library for after-school tutoring.

In conclusion, the end of the school year can be a stressful time, but with proper organization, efficient prioritization, a good work-life balance, and using your resources for assistance, it is possible to avoid stress and finish the year on a positive note as we enter summer break.
